Do I Have to Wash My Socks Separately? Is it OK to Wash Them With My Undergarments?

Laundry is one of the most "repeated" household chores.

In a house with many people, some households may run their washing machine a few times per day.

Even though washing is really simple and can be done with a single with, all the prep work and work that goes into it afterwards - such as drying it, taking it in, and folding it, is quite tedious.

…And it is repeated every day.

I don’t want to spend too much time doing laundry.

But, I can’t imagine washing socks, towels and clothes together!

Therefore, some households separate their delicates with their other laundry.

In that case, of course, workload will increase.

Do I have to wash my dirty socks separately?

Today, I will summarize the problem of washing socks.

How Do You Wash Your Socks?

My family washes everything together in one cycle.

One of the reasons is that the amount of laundry itself is not so large because it is only for two people.

And we think it is uneconomical to bother to wash it separately.

Looking at the issue of laundry, there are particulars and rules in each household, such as those who wash together, those who wash socks separately because they do not want to wash with underwear and towels, and those who wash everything except towels together.

Some households wash their socks or undergarments by hand.

What is the Opinion of Those Who Wash Socks Separately?

The main reason for washing socks separately is that you don't want to wash the towel that wipes your face and body and the socks that you wear on your feet together!

There seems to be many reasons.

It seems that many people who have such an opinion wash their underwear separately for the same reason.

There are different ways of feeling about this issue, but it seems that many people think of socks as "dirty things".

Do I Have to Wash it Separately?

Do I have to wash my socks separately?

Of course, there is no correct answer to this question because it is deeply related to personal preferences, but I personally had a convincing answer.

Detergents contain ingredients called "anti-redeposition agents" or "dispersants". This is an ingredient that prevents dirt that has once fallen off from reattaching to clothing.

It is said that this component acts on dirt and fibres to increase the force of electric repulsion, so that the dirt that has fallen can stay in the cleaning liquid.

In the end, you don't have to worry about dirt transfer!

However, it's just a matter of personal taste and preference, so if you don't feel like washing separately, you can, of course, wash separately.

Easy Washing Method for Those Who Care

I understand the ingredients that prevent stains from being transferred to the detergent, but I'm still a little worried about it.

But I don't want the trouble of washing it separately.

If you think this way, give this a try:

Before putting it in the washing machine, apply detergent directly to the items that you are concerned about getting dirty and put them in the washing machine.

Prepare a bucket for items of concern such as socks and underwear. Soak in water with detergent until you put it in the washing machine.

It may not be as effective as washing it separately or by hand, but with this little effort, you can achieve a better result.

What are the Disadvantages of Washing Separately?

Another advantage of washing is the satisfaction and cleanliness of the clean laundry, but what are the disadvantages?

Not to mention the time and effort it takes, it is the cost of electricity and water.

Laundry is a house work that is repeated every day, and the utility bill that it costs increases accordingly.

It is necessary to factor in this disadvantage and consider the best laundry balance for your home.

Conclusion

Even at my parents' house, I wasn't a family that washed socks separately, so I was doing the laundry together without any particular consciousness.

However, it is certainly difficult to wash things that are too dirty, work clothes, etc. together.

Personally, I have no doubts about the existence of the detergent "anti-redeposition agent" in my daily laundry, but I still don't feel like washing heavily soiled items together.

In other words, what to wash together or separately depends on the consciousness of the family.
